President's Corner
We are in full swing this spring, and are so excited to be welcoming our newest pledge class to the Omega chapter of Alpha Phi! We cannot wait to get to know our newest sisters, and we are so excited to extend the long benefits and opportunities of Alpha Phi to our newest sisters!
Our Executive Board recently traveled to Houston, Texas for Regional Conference, where our chapter received 4 awards, including Outstanding Philanthropy Event, Outstanding New Member Program, Outstanding Marketing Department, and Outstanding Chapter! Our Executive Board also enjoyed the opportunity to meet with officers from the other Big 12 schools and returned home with many new and fun ideas.
The women of Omega are continuing their involvement around campus here at the University of Texas. Alpha Phi is represented in many organizations on campus, including Spirits, Orange and White Ball, Texas Tees, Lacrosse Little Sisters, Texas Splash, and sweethearts for other Greek and non-Greek organizations.
Alpha Phi has also been very active supporting our philanthropy this spring. Many of our women had the opportunity to participate in the American Heart Association's Heart Ball showing our support for cardiac care for women. They volunteered in the American Heart Association's live and silent auction and greeted guests at the event and escorted them inside. We also are extremely excited about our newest spring philanthropy event benefitting the Alpha Phi Foundation, A PHI'd Your Heart Out Barbeque! We will be hosting an all you can eat BBQ lunch at our house to raise money for cardiac care awareness.
Alpha Phi has also teamed up with Self magazine to participate in the Self Challenge to challenge our members to develop healthy exercise and eating habits. The Omega chapter is extremely excited to get started!
We have some fun events coming up this semester! Our two big events for the spring are Casual and Formal. Casual is a date event downtown in mid February where the ladies enjoy dressing up, which is the day after Valentine's Day this year! Formal, which is set for the beginning of April, is always a favorite event and is the highlight of the spring semester for most girls. We also will be having our Mom's weekend in April.
We are all very excited for our chapter and all of our events for this semester, and we cannot wait until formal recruitment next year to welcome the newest generation of Alpha Phis!
