A Newsletter for Alpha Phi Parents
From the desk of Omega's President,
Spring 2006

Dear Alpha Phi Parent,

I want to take this time to briefly introduce myself. I am Nicole D., this year's Alpha Phi President. Throughout the year I am going to write a newsletter so that you are all aware and updated with what is happening at Alpha Phi.

What a great start to a new year! We are only a third way into the semester and already so many wonderful things have happened for Alpha Phi! Our calendars are filled from here till May with great events. From sisterhood retreat to Formal plus all the little things in between, it seems that there is always something to do with all my great Alpha Phi sisters!

This year we were offered the opportunity to participate with the faculty Women's Association, Beta Chi Theta, Delta Sigma Theta, and the Natural Sciences Dean Scholars in support of the American Heart Association's National Red Day event on February 3rd. Austinites were asked by the American Heart Association to wear red in recognition of the fact that heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. UT Austin faculty, staff and students were invited to join in a photograph that was taken on the south mall of the UT tower on Friday February 3rd. Everyone who came out in their red attire formed the shape of a heart for the photograph. Not only was there an amazing turn out at this event, but Alpha Phi was featured in the Daily Texan and on the home page of the University of Texas website. Check out some pictures that were taken at the event >>

I can't imagine what the rest of the semester has in store for us. But for now, we are looking forward to our next social event, Casual, which will be held at Copa Bar and Grill. The theme of the event is a Phi-esta, so girls will have the opportunity to dress up and enjoy a great night with their dates and sisters!

If you have any questions or concerns about anything please do not hesitate to e-mail me. I look forward to updating you more as the semester gets into full swing!

Sincerely,
Nicole D.
